Skolsky’s paintings have been featured in numerous gallery exhibitions
including the Philadelphia Museum of Art. In addition to his portrait work,
Mark has done extensive work in illustration and movie posters. He has twice
garnered citations for his portraits from New York’s prestigious Society
of Illustrators, as well as distinctive merit awards for his design work.
M.E.S. was born on Long Island in 1957. Initially engaged in architectural studies, his attention later turned to fine art, anatomy, and design. While attending the Rhode Island School of Design, his academic training was enhanced by the influence of painting with Gordon F. Peers. An early interest in the human figure has given Mr. Skolsky a keen eye for gesture, and led to kinesiological studies at the Erick Hawkins Foundation in New York for nearly two decades.
Currently, he is engaged in a three-year project for the N.Y. Mercantile Exchange creating a portrait collection of former chairmen, spanning a 128 year history.
